QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK, Just boxed up some more preps, sugar, pasta, split peas, prepacked coffee, packets of cocao, in some big ammo boxes with air tight rubber gaskets and spring latches, got a whole stack 9 high :D--- I got to get me a GOOD lable maker maker :hahaha::dontknow: Don't know what is in each box --- just know it's good stuff:D --- like about 100 other boxes and containers of various sizes :hahaha::favorites21: :D I have been PREPING since 73!:D
If you can't find IT when you want and NEED it --- it's almost like YOU aint got it and it could be part of why I get a little CRAZY now and then --- trying to remember which box and ware I moved it over the years of working on projects and making various repares to the DUCK NEST.:confused_ma: When I worked at a hospital I use surgical tape for labels -- most of them fell off long ago. I also used the cheepo labeling tool with the tape that changes color when you squeez the lever they worked better but also tend to come off and get lost. I believe they sell ones now that print out from a small key board? Just wondering if any one can sugest a brand or how they manage :questionm:questionm to stay ORGANISED so the INSANITY of knowing "YOU got IT but don't know WARE" don't drive you CRAZY?:D the DUCK |

Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
I like using a Sharpies permanent maker, I write directly on the box or container....

Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK,Avalon, LOL Why didin't I think of THAT:questionm I was just going to find a pointy ROCK and scratch words in to the paint :hahaha::haha:
Actualy I was thinking more along the lines of peal and stick paper lables which could neatly list the contents. Over the years one of the things I started colecting was BOXES for my STUFF,I got wood boxes ,antique boxes, foot lockers and militry med equipment boxes litterly stacked to the cealing and most I would expect to reuse for OTHER things once the contentents have been used. I'm a real NUT for having stuff in BOXES!:grin: When I started preping back in the 70s one of the first things I bought was 6 or 8 50 cal ammo boxes for the hard ware and stuff I could scrounge up that I thought could help me SURVIVE and some how ESCAPE! It's what I did in NAM TOO when I was not doing my stuff with the RADAR -- I went around SCROUNGING any thing that could keep the "ME" inside ALIVE. I even scrounged up a 16' sail boat --- fixed it up PATCHED up all the bullet holes and fixed up ware they blasted the MAST off and built one out of a piece of PIPE -- used a poncho liner for a SAIL and a fire bucket full of ROCKS for an ANCOR! Now THAT was an ADVENTURE!!!!!!:D (just poped in my head thought I would share it) Any way, to make a long story short  I'm way passed " a Sharpies permanent maker" :D the DUCK |

And speaking of Sharpies -- I'm telling everyone why you should never use commercial toothpaste--- the other day my 6 year old took to writing his name on our wooden kitchen table with a black sharpie. Wife was frantic- tried clorox spray. some kind of Ajax stuff with a brillo pad etc. No luck. Didn't even fade it. Appeared as if it wold be there forever. Til Daddy came home and saved the day!:rolleyes_m: Went to the corner store and bought a travel tube of Colgate toothpaste and spread it over the signature, waited a minute , and just wiped it off with a wet paper towel. You'd never know it happened. Imagine what the stuff does to teeth! Anyway , the poison does have one use at least. Didn't mean to hijack ya Duck! |

Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK,zilver,That is about what I am looking for but there are several brands on the market and I was wondering if any one had used them and how well they worke -- do the lables stay one over time and does the printing fade???

Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK,Maxine, I think I read one of your posts saying you are a pilot?
What do you think about ultra lights? A fiew years back I was playing with the idea of seting up a place to land in my back yard I even bougt (one of them boxes) a surpluss set of military landing lights for night. Got a bunch of big weather baloons too (more boxes) thinking they could be turned in to a sort of a home made blimp for moving heavy stuff. Turns out heliem is very expencive but seems to me with electrolicis could get hydregen for free so for survival situation it could be done -- just have to be real carfull about sparks! I still like to think about perhaps geting an ultralight ,a DUCK ota fly at least now and then. Can't waddel and ponder ALL the time.:D the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)

Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK,Jonas Parker,I used to hang out with several SF paramedics down at Ft.Benning befor I got out they tought me how to REPELL off clifs, stich up wounds and even got me to jump out of a perfectly good hehhocopter from two miles UP!:D
They told me how to get a DUCK DINNER!:hahaha: The MREs with freez dried EGGS! You find ware the DUCKS come out of the water and sprinkel the pack of EGGS and come back in a fiew hours! The DUCKS eat te dry eggs -- drink water and it swells up in side them and kills them! You put the DUCK in a 50 cal ammo can fethers and all and about an inch of water in the bottom. Stab a small hole in the top of the can -- close and seal it and put it in a fire for an hour or so and the DUCK will cook! Its a Special Forces -- Pressure cooker!:hahaha::haha: the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
Duck, you were hanging around with a bad crowd. You should have been hanging around with the Coast Guard paramedics...

Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK,Jonas Parker,It was the SF guys who told the "WARLOCK" how to put the "BLUE CURSE" on a warrent officer who would not let me eat in the mess hall just because I refused to ware my UNIFORM!
I prefered my cut off JEANS with PEACE PATCHES,HO Chemin sandles and a red bandana on my head!:D Not RAMBO -- not CLINGER -- the WARLOCK -- my new IDENTITY! I cursed him --- made him PEE BLUE and he left ME the HELL ALONE!! Transfered out of the unit shortly there after!!:hahaha::haha::haha: the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
We made a bad bro-in-law pee blue. Food coloring can be your friend. :D
The right color food coloring, in large doses, hidden in someone's meal will send them to the doctor. "Doc, I'm pooping paisley do-do"!!! |
Re: QWAK,geting ORGANISED ;)
QWAK,conk,Actualy it was some medication or chemical that is used for a simple test that the SF medics got hold of and after I had suficiently messed with his HEAD and given we were in a combat zone ware every body is SPOOKEY -- HE jumped over the EDGE and decided to "get out of DOGE" befor somthing WORSE happened.:hahaha::haha:
The OD green sock filled with sand with little leg and arm BUDS tied off with pieces of boot lace AND a bunch of rusty nails stuck in it -- left at the door of his HOOCH started the whole progression.:D I am not in to VIOLENCE and never was but when PUSHED --- I PUSH BACK and do so in much more CREATIVE ways than others who presume to be ABOVE ME can comprehend or understand. He gave ME the name "WARLOCK" I did not like it but accepted it and played WARLOCK because it gave me POWER to protect my self and preserve the ME INSIDE!:thinkey: the DUCK |
